Mid Autumn Festival 2019 – Free Art Programs with San Mateo County Libraries

Chinese Brush Painting and Chinese Calligraphy

In September, celebrate Mid Autumn Moon Festival with family and friends. Artist-instructor Pauline Tsui will read Moon Poems from the Chinese classics and teach participants hands-on techniques in painting seasonal flowers, fruits and animals. Participants will create an artwork to take home. Beginners level, all art materials will be provided. Registration required, space is limited. Contact librarians by phone or email.

For October, Chinese Calligraphy for non-Chinese learners. Calligraphy is an art form that is closely associated with Poetry and Painting. Artist and instructor Pauline Tsui will share stories of the Origins of Chinese Writing and teach how to paint Chinese characters as an abstract art form. Learn how to read and write simple characters using ink and brush, participants will create a finished decorative wall-art to take home. Beginners level, all art materials will be provided. Registration required, space is limited.
