Customs & Origins of Lunar New Year –

a free cultural event at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center

Where:   Lafayette Library & Learning Center, Art and Science Room

Join us for a talk and discussion on ‘The Customs & Origins of Lunar New Year’ with artist and Asian Art Museum docent Pauline Tsui.

Find out how the spring festival is celebrated in Asia and the U.S. Learn about proper greetings for New Year’s Day, the familial festivities, meanings of food and lucky decorations.

After the talk, Pauline will demonstrate painting auspicious flowers and zodiac animals for a lucky banner. Participants will receive small lucky souvenirs (red envelopes with candies or lucky banners).
