Customs & Origins of the Lunar New Year

Art talk and demo at Portola Valley Library – Learning Center – Tuesday, January 30th, 1:00-2:30pm.

Pauline Tsui will present a slideshow and talk on ‘The Customs & Origins of Lunar New Year’. Find out how the spring festival is celebrated in various parts of Asia and in the U.S. Learn the proper greetings for New Year’s Day, the familial festivities, meanings of food and lucky decorations.

After the talk, Pauline will demonstrate brush-painting auspicious flowers and fruits, and create a lucky banner i.e. the Year of the Dog to decorate the home.
