Chinese Brush Painting at Yu Ming

After school enrichment class for Grades  3 to 8, every Wednesday, 3:20 pm – 4:20 pm at Yu Ming Charter School, Oakland, CA

Learn basic skills in Chinese brush painting and calligraphy: students will paint flowers, fruits, and small animals using Chinese ink and watercolors. Lessons include ‘the Four Noble Flowers’, ‘the Three Friends of Winter’, ‘Zodiac Animals’, etc. The class is designed to help students develop creativity, enhance focus, and expand their cultural experience. All art material costs for brushes, paper, ink and colors are included in the course fees.

This is a beginners class, no prior painting skill is necessary. Children learn in a small size classroom and nurturing environment. The class schedule is made up of two sessions where each part is 9-week long, each class is an independent lesson. First day of class for session Part 1 is January 9th; last day of class for session Part 2 is May 29th.

Teacher’s Bio:

Pauline Tsui teaches brush painting and calligraphy classes at various public and private institutions — at schools, libraries, and art museums. Pauline is an artist, a writer, and a docent of the Asian Art Museum. She had studied traditional Chinese brush painting with renowned masters in Hong Kong, and attended Mills College of Oakland, National School of Fine Arts in Paris, Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, to pursue degrees in design and western art. Pauline’s East-meets-West approach and methodical teaching style appeal to a broad audience in the Bay Area.
